A 12 member team representing International Fellowship of Cycling Rotaians (IFCR) Bangalore participated in the cycling
expedition for 3 days from 17.05.2015 to 19.05.2015 covering a total of 160 kms
ride along with the support of the local Saint Mard Cycling Association and the
Rotary club members of VillIpente Expositions of Paris RI Dist 1770.
Undoubtedly a
remarkable experience and a great interaction with fellow Rotarians and clubs
of the district. The ride made us to raise the recognition of our RI District 3190 far and
wide during the event. The participating members were recognized with a medal from the Minister of the constituency
which was indeed a great achievement for all who participated.
The ride in the
country side overlooking the French farms, thick forests and beautiful
dwellings was an awesome experience never to forget and cherish for a lifetime.
All the participating Rotarians and their families had fun filled joint meeting
hosted by Rotary Club of Montreul, PARIS.
I wish to thank personally all the members of the team for the fun, joy, friendship & fellowship that we experienced right from boarding the flight at Bangalore till we had successful ride in Paris.
We all left from Bangalore to Paris via Dubai by Emirates flight on 16th May 2015 late evening. Of the 12 members 9 had come with their family to travel to Paris and then to Switzerland & Italy. As myself & my wife Savitha had been to Europe tour last year (2014) I was alone to Paris this time. In all we were 27 members and it was a great fun traveling in flight to Paris together. While all of us spent a week in Paris, I returned to Bangalore on 22nd May and others continued their journey to other parts of Europe. As I had not visited World famous Louvre Museum last year I made it a point to visit this time. I took metro train from St Mande metro station and had memorable visit to Lauvre museum. I have captured quite a few photographs at the museum which are reproduced below.
My special thanks to the
President, Secretary and all its members of the Saint Mard Cycling Association
for providing us with the excellent Road bicycles, planning the routes for the 3
days and being with us and taking care of all our requirements. I also deeply thank
one and all for the support and the experience of riding in their country who
are quite real professionals in cycling. My special thanks to Rtn. Isabelle of
Rotary Club of Villipente, without whom the event wouldn’t have happened. It is
because of her sheer involvement and continuous support along with her group
and follow up that we could participate and successfully complete the event. My Thanks to the Presidents and members of Rotary Club of Villpente & Rotary club of Montreul for
their fellowship activity with the family and Villpente club for a formal
meeting and exchange of the rotary flags / activities.
Lastly we wouldn’t have been able to organize this event without the participation and the lead taken by our fellow member President of Rotary Bangalore South Rtn. Sridhar B R, who was instrumental in connecting with the right people in France and helping us in organizing this wonderful & memorable event.
